Shoot Checklist

Go through the planned shots
Play with focal lengths and distance between the camera and subject
Get more than you think for footage
Use the Rule of Thirds to help with framing
When setting up an angle to shoot, I go through a quick checklist:
What is in the background? Can I see things I don’t want to see?
How does talent look? Are they wearing everything correctly?
Are things steamed and look good in the space?
Is the camera level or tilted? If tilted, is that on purpose?
Is the light too much or too little?
How does the color of the image look?
Is this the framing I want based on the rule of thirds?
When getting ready for talking, did we do a sound check. Is the mic on and sounds natural?
When you are doing lines think about these things:
Have talent read through full script a few times before on camera lines
Does this person sound natural or was the line too robotic?
Can I ask a question to prompt a response that feel natural to their words?
Want to print your doc?
This is not the way.
Try clicking the ⋯ next to your doc name or using a keyboard shortcut (
CtrlP
) instead.
