Jan. 12th - Jan 16th
This week was mostly about getting back into a routine and settling into the semester. I spent most of my time looking over each of my classes coursework throughout the semester, attending lectures, and getting a feel for what each class will focus on over the coming months. It was a very good introduction into the semester, allowing me to ease into everything.
In AT 219, we completed our first lab, which we created a to-do list for another group’s Believer aircraft. This required inspecting their hardware setup and verifying that the software and configurations were correct and up to date. This really helped refresh my mind on what we ended last semester working on, giving my group a chance to remember how different softwares worked with the Believer, and what we still need to do on our aircraft as well. Another group also reviewed our aircraft, which should help us catch anything we missed and improve our build quality when we start working on it again in a few weeks.
Outside of class, I am the Grand Prix director for my fraternities racing teams, we are very fortunate to race two karts every year in Purdue grand prix. With tech inspection coming up in a few weeks, I had to take a look at what was needed to be done on both karts to get them ready for tech inspection, making lists of what was needed to be changed and what parts needed to be bought as well. Tech inspection is essentially a safety check for all the karts that compete to make sure they meet the racing standards. Racing is one of my true passions and I am always grateful for the opportunity to work and organize teams for such a unique tradition here at Purdue.
Overall, it was a fairly relaxing but productive week. I was able to get acclimated to my classes, meet expectations early, and set a comfortable foundation for the upcoming semester.
