Final Project Overview
Over the course of the semester, we built on each lab by collecting UAS data from multiple platforms and gradually learning how to turn that raw flight data into accurate, cartographically correct map products. Data collected during earlier flight labs using the DJI M300, DJI Mavic 2 Pro, and Skydio 2+ at different altitudes was carried forward into this final project. Instead of focusing on flying, this project emphasized processing workflows, projections, datums, and cartographic design to ensure all datasets could be compared and analyzed consistently.
Using Drone2Map and ArcGIS Pro, we processed each dataset into orthomosaics, DSMs, DTMs, and shaded relief products, applying the same settings and projection to maintain consistency across platforms. Concepts learned throughout the semester, including metadata management, coordinate systems, elevation modeling, and map layout design, were all applied in the creation of the final maps. This project represents the culmination of the semester by showing how data collected during individual flight labs can be combined into a complete, professional geospatial analysis workflow.
