The Community of St. Hildegard is an inclusive Christian faith community based in the holistic charism of St. Hildegard of Bingen. Liturgies and prayers services are presided over by ordained ministers. We provide education, formation, and prayer experiences sharing her genius and creativity, including her understanding of the healing properties of the natural world.
On June 10, Prof. Mary Hess, of Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN will be at Hildegard Haus to lead us in discovering and sharing our stories of connection to and care for the natural world.
Prof. Hess has a deep concern for Creation combined with decades of work in digital storytelling as a form of faith formation. In this project she is helping people learn how to tell their own stories of relationship with nature, listen to each other’s stories, and then record and share these stories digitally. You don’t need to have any skill with either telling stories, or using digital technology. Simply bring your own device (smart phone, tablet, or laptop) and a desire to share a story from your own experience and to listen to others.
We will gather Monday morning at 8:30 for informal coffee, and then begin at 9:00 and work until lunch in small circles to share stories using specific prompts and practices. After lunch — provided free of charge — we will turn to a “co-laboratory” where we will help you use your own devices to audio record your short story, and then to tweak it with photos, music, and so on. We will conclude by 3:00.
