Pandemic Impacts

Dear {First Name},
It is difficult to overstate the importance of humanitarian aid in Uganda, where the COVID-19 pandemic has worsened the already dire situation.
During COVID-19's outbreak worldwide, Uganda was among many countries devastated by natural disasters and disease outbreaks. With more than ______ people infected with HIV each year, Uganda is familiar with diseases trying to wipe out their people.
The COVID-19 virus has killed nearly ____ Ugandans and a ____ more are infected each day. It's not just the infection numbers that make this crisis so devastating to their country - it's the effect on every level of society.
Many families have been left with no breadwinner because they were too sick or too young to work. This means that even if an entire family survives COVID-19, they still face economic disaster in its aftermath.
Like you, we’re morally outraged and distressed by the hardships that women and children face daily in Uganda—especially in contrast to the vast opportunities, social safety nets, and abundance so many of us have and take for granted.
But there is hope for survivors and their communities alike - as long as we act now!
Our locally-developed Family Empowerment Program (FEP) guides guardians through three core areas to strengthen the foundation of households and improve the welfare of children:
Skills training and economic empowerment via Income Generating Activities (IGAs)
Financial knowledge and accountability through Village Savings & Loan Associations (VSLAs)
Family counseling, community health and wellness
Your support makes this possible.
Register now for the Journey of Light virtual event and help illuminate the path to social justice in Uganda.
