Task templates

Task templates in Soko help organize projects in faster and easier way. When we need the same set of tasks on a regular basis, instead of creating them over and over, we can achieve this more easily with task templates.

Create a task template

First, we will select a shot, asset, or any folder object which includes tasks that we want to save as a Task Template. Then we’ll select the actual tasks, right-click and select “Save as Template”.

1. The folder object for which this template should be saved is automatically selected. 2. You need to give the template a unique name. 3. Optionally, you can provide a description for this template. 4. The “Save Output Templates” checkbox creates ready-made empty outputs based on current task outputs, allowing users to publish their work without needing to create them. When “Save Todo Template” is checked, the to-do list from the selected task is saved to the template. When “Save Link Templates” is checked, links between tasks are saved as well. When “Save Assignee Templates” is checked, the current task assignees are also saved in the template.
Besides these attributes, Planned Hours are also saved in the task template.

It’s good practice to create empty outputs, especially for tasks with several outputs expected. Users will therefore know what outputs are expected to be published when their work is done. Once these outputs are created there will be no ambiguity about which output should belong where.

Create tasks from the template

You can create tasks from a task template for one or multiple folder objects. Just select the folders where you want to create tasks, right-click, and select “Create objects from template.”

You can create tasks from template also in directory tree. Just select the folders where you want to create tasks, right-click, and select “Create objects from template.”

Task templates are also used in bidding templates, where we can add additional information to them.
