Week 2 Full Class Session Agenda (90 Minutes)

Team Presentations

Following is our agenda for week 2 when we meet together as a full class for the first time.

Meeting Part
Part Duration
Meeting Activities
1
Part 1
30 mins
Introductions (Each small group individually introduces themselves before their presentation) and Small Group Presentations
Each of 4 groups (Heat and Humidity, Sea Level Rise, Drought, or Fire) share their natural systems impact presentations (5 minutes each, 30 minutes total)
2
Part 2
10 mins
Select 2nd Small Group for Weeks 3-4
Our groups in weeks 3 and 4 will focus on the changes that industries will go through to reduce to net zero emissions. We will form our groups based on John Doerr’s Speed and Scale framework. Please indicate your initial vote before class (just below) and then we will form several groups based on student interest within our class meeting.
3
Part 3
40 mins
Class Discussion
Discuss macro changes that are occurring and will continue to accelerate over the course of our lifetimes as a result of the climate crisis.
Explore IPCC scenarios including their accuracy and probability of likely future of temperature increases
Articulate human systems impacts on your region, state, and sector
Consider likely impacts to the global economy
Explore how dramatic you expect changes to global economy and society will be over the course of your lifetime
Ask yourself how optimistic/pessimistic you are about the future
