Squeeze standard ambu-bag by 1 to 6 inches at a frequency of 10 to 30 squeezes per minute.
Max pressure up to 30 cmH2O (regulated by PEEP valve) → 5cmH20 min, 40cmH20 max
ambu-bag has diameter 5-7 inches
Actuation method is open-ended
Must Have
Firm base (i.e. plywood base)
Must Have
The bag should be easy to replace without dismantling the machine.
Must Have
The device should operate reliably and continuously for multiple days at a time.
Must Have
Materials should be standard and minimal.
Custom printed or cut parts should be quick and easy
Must Have

Squeeze depth and frequency
Must Have
Air pressure / leak detection through manometer interface
detect a drop of pressure in the bag
Sound a loud audible alarm

Control
3
Ability to change frequency and amplitude
Must Have
Simple user interface

Manufacturing
1
Ideally a kit requiring assembly and not manufacturing, i.e. made of COTS parts
Must Have
Limits
1
The Ambu-bag has an attached PEEP regulator valve (Fig 1b) that the physician can use to set the maximum pressure. Therefore, the device does not need to worry about pressure safety.
The units will connect to a power outlet with generator backup. No battery operation is needed.
There is no need for the device to be sterile or sterilizable.
No need to worry about contamination. Viral filters, if needed and available, will be connected by the physician to the intake and exhaust tubes.
No need to worry about oxygenation. If needed and available, oxygen line will be connected by the physician to the bag directly.
