Day 10 Hours 5-6

Day 10 Hour 5-6: Introduction to Custom Scripts

Overview of scripting in Airtable

In the fifth hour, we'll shift our focus to scripting in Airtable. Airtable scripts allow you to create more complex and customised functionalities within your Airtable base. With scripts, you can manipulate your data in ways that standard Airtable features may not allow. We'll discuss the role of scripting in Airtable and some of the tasks you can achieve with it.

How to use the Scripting block to write custom scripts

After that, we'll dive into the practical part of scripting in Airtable. We'll explore how to use the Scripting block to write custom scripts. You'll learn how to add a Scripting block to your base, and how to write and run scripts within it. We'll go through some of the basic syntax and commands that you'll use in your scripts.

Hands-on exercise: Writing a basic custom script in Airtable

Finally, we'll end this session with a hands-on exercise. You'll have the opportunity to apply what you've just learned by writing your own basic custom script in Airtable. You'll use the Scripting block to write and run a script that performs a simple task on your base.
The goal of this exercise is to give you a taste of the power of scripting in Airtable. Although we're starting with a simple script, keep in mind that scripts can be as complex as you need them to be, allowing you to create highly customized functionality in your Airtable bases.
