Objectives of the project: Karibib Local Economic Development Strategy
The objective of the project is to develop a comprehensive and detailed LED Strategy for
Karibib. The project will achieve this ambition by identifying specific factors that impact on
quality of business attraction, growth and retention, and will put forth strategies for programme
enhancement, community-building and policy accomplishment.
Questions to be answered:
What are the laws, policies, rules, regulations and programs (national, regional and local) regarding Local Economic Development in Namibia?
Which ones can be adapted for Karibib, and which ones need to be prioritized?
What is the current status quo of economic development in Karibib, and of general development of the town (infrastructure, facilities, other)?
What are the comparative advantages of Karibib, and which of those can be turned into competitive advantages, and how?
Develop an implementation plan with clearly defined time lines and responsibility areas for all identified LED priorities, as well as for other development priorities which have an impact on LED. Identify funding options for the identified priority areas/ partnership and joint ventures.
Make a SWOT Analysis of the current economic development situation in Karibib. This shall include other developments (infrastructure, facilities) which have an impact on LED in Karibib.
Compile all findings in a report, which shall later form part (A) of the LED Strategy.
Discuss the report with the Town Council and amend if need be.
Objectives of the project: Karibib Investment Policy
To develop a comprehensive and guide for assisting those interested in investing and doing
business in Karibib.
Questions to be answered:
What can Karibib do to improve on its’ overall situation (infrastructure, facilities,
investment climate etc.)?
What are the current Investment efforts of Karibib?
What are potential resources/comparative advantages / investment areas? Are there
innovative ideas? Where are opportunities for value-chain-development? What can be
done in the field of investment?
What needs to be done by the Town Council and other stakeholders to bring the
comparative advantages and opportunities in a marketable condition / turn them into
competitive advantages?
