Chapter: 15. The Crown Of Diamonds

Word Wonder: Palindromes

Explanation for Self-Learning:
A palindrome is a special kind of word, phrase, number, or even a sequence of characters that reads the same forwards and backward. Think of it like a mirror image – if you reverse the order of the letters, you get the exact same word.
Let’s look at the examples given:
peep: Read it forwards: P-E-E-P. Read it backwards: P-E-E-P. It’s the same!
level: Forwards: L-E-V-E-L. Backwards: L-E-V-E-L. Still the same!
madam: Forwards: M-A-D-A-M. Backwards: M-A-D-A-M. Another match!
Palindromes are fun because they play with the structure of language. When you’re trying to figure out if a word is a palindrome, just imagine writing it on a piece of paper and then trying to read it from right to left. If it sounds and spells the same, you’ve found a palindrome!
Examples of Palindrome Phrases:
“Madam I’m Adam.” (Notice spaces and punctuation are often ignored or adjusted for phrases).
“Step on no pets.”
Let’s try to form some more palindromes!
Read the jumbled letters and form palindromes.
