: Cultivation of a field
Poultry
: Animals that are kept for their eggs, milk or meat
Subsistence
: The state of having just enough money or food to stay alive
Night soil
: Solid waste material, that is passed from the body, is collected at night and is used as a fertilizer

: The total amount of crops produced
Combine harvester
: A large farm machine which cuts a crop and separates the grain from the rest of the plant
Machete
: A broad, heavy knife used as a cutting tool or a weapon
Commercial
: Connected with the buying and selling of goods and services
Agribusiness
: Farming conducted on a large scale on strictly commercial principles
HYV
: High yielding variety of seeds introduced during the Green Revolution to increase crop production
Crop residue
: The stalks, leaves, husks, roots, etc. left after the crop is harvested and processed
