Chapter: 01. Matter
Matter
: Anything that has mass and occupies space.
Mass
: The amount of matter contained in an object.
Volume
: The space occupied by an object.
Atoms
: The smallest possible units of matter that show all the properties of matter.
Molecules
: Groups of atoms that show all the properties of matter and can exist independently.
States of matter
: Solids, liquids or gases.
Intermolecular space
: The space between any two adjacent molecules.
Intermolecular force of attraction
: The force of attraction between two neighbouring molecules, also called cohesive force.
Cohesive force
: The force of attraction between two neighbouring molecules.
Plasma
: The fourth state of matter, formed when a gas is exposed to extremely high temperature.
Diffusion
: The spreading out and mixing of a substance with another substance caused by the motion of its particles.
