Adjusting the difficulty

When studying a sequence, you can adjust several settings that affect the difficulty.
Item quantity. The more items in the quiz, the harder it is.
Consecutive Items. If a sequence has more than the maximum items for a quiz, you can choose if items in the quiz must be consecutive or not. Placing non-consecutive items in order is harder because you must think of the whole sequence, not just what immediately follows.
Hint duration. Initially hints disappear after a few seconds. Adjust the hint duration to adjust the difficulty.
Permanent hints. Eventually hints no longer disappear. Adjust how many incorrect attempts are required before hints become permanent.
If a sequence quiz is too easy, consider using the .

How my quiz is unique

There are very few sequencing quiz engines. I am not aware of any that
provide gradated dynamic hints to ensure success
support cyclic sequences starting with any event
work with long sequences
allow a subset of items in the sequence

Study hints

Repeat the quiz multiple times in a row to ensure you know the sequence.
If a sequence is very long, you will not see all the events in the sequence with each quiz session. Repeating the quiz will show different events.
Because events already have an order, you could have gotten lucky without actually knowing the correct sequence. Repeating the quiz with present the items in a different starting order.
Putting events in order is much easier than reciting them from memory because you do not have to recall the events themselves, only the order. Repeating the quiz will help with the transition from recognition to recall.

Writing questions

Ensure that each item in the sequence is unique. For example, Grover Cleveland is both the 22nd and 24th president of the United States of America. In a sequence of presidents, use Grover Cleveland (1st term) and Grover Cleveland (2nd term) instead of only his name.
