⛰️Moylussa, the highest point in County Clare, and Ballycuggaran Forest offer a challenging yet rewarding hike. The trailhead/start point is located at the Ballycuggaran Forest car park⛰️

​

🌲The hike begins with a moderate ascent through the forest, gradually gaining elevation. As you climb, you'll be rewarded with stunning views of Lough Derg and the surrounding countryside. The trail can be muddy in some sections, especially after rainfall, so sturdy footwear is recommended🌲

​

🏞The final stretch to the summit of Moylussa is the most challenging, however, the breathtaking panoramic views from the top makes the effort worthwhile. You can see for miles, taking in the beauty of Lough Derg, the Slieve Bernagh mountain range, and the rolling hills of East Clare🏞

🏕The Bernard Loop, near Mitchelstown, Co. Cork and Anglesboro in County Limerick, is a fantastic hike offering stunning views of the Galtee Mountains and the Golden Vale. This moderate 4.1-mile loop takes you through a mix of forest paths, gravel roads, and grassy hills. The trail is well-marked and easy to follow.🏕

​

🦔As you ascend, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramas of the surrounding countryside. The route passes through Combaun Wood, a beautiful woodland area with diverse flora and fauna. Keep an eye out for deer, which are often spotted near the stream. The trail offers a variety of challenges, but the rewards are well worth the effort.🦔

🍂Remember to wear appropriate footwear and bring plenty of water. The Bernard Loop is a great way to experience the natural beauty of County Limerick and get some exercise at the same time. The walk will be led by Denny who might have one or two stories along the way.🍂

Combaun Woods

⛰️The Temple Hill "B" walk from Combaun Woods is a challenging but rewarding trek in the Galtee Mountains. It's a popular route for experienced hikers, offering stunning views and a sense of accomplishment⛰️

​

🌲The trailhead is located at Combaun Woods car park. The initial part of the hike follows a forest track, gradually ascending through the woods. As you gain elevation, the views start to open up, offering glimpses of the surrounding countryside🌲

​

🌄The trail eventually leads onto open mountainside, where the ascent becomes steeper. The final stretch to the summit of Temple Hill is particularly challenging, with loose rocks and exposed terrain. However, the effort is rewarded with panoramic views of the Galtee Mountains and the surrounding plains🌄

​

🥾The descent is a circular route back to Combaun Woods car park. It's important to be cautious on the descent, especially on the steeper sections🥾

⛰️Kevin Finn will be leading an "A" walk in the Comeraghs, taking on the Lough Mohra & Rath Beag Loop by the Knockanafrin Ridge. This is a challenging hike, perfect for experienced walkers who enjoy a good workout⛰️

🌄The walk starts at the Lough Mohra trailhead, covering approximately 16 kilometres with an ascent of 800 meters. It's estimated to take around 5.5 hours, including stops to admire the stunning views and catch your breath🌄

🏞The route offers breathtaking scenery, including the serene Lough Mohra, the historic Rath Beag, and the dramatic Knockanafrin Ridge. 🌲The Galtee Walking Club's "Forest Tracks from Christ the King – C walk" with Eddie McGrath offers a scenic and moderate hike through the Slievenamuck forest. The walk starts at the Christ the King statue and follows a well-marked trail through the woods. The trail is mostly flat with gentle inclines, making it suitable for walkers of all fitness levels🌲

🥾Along the way, you'll be treated to stunning views of the surrounding countryside, including the Galtee Mountains and the Glen of Aherlow. The forest itself is a beautiful place to explore, with a variety of trees and wildlife. The walk is about 5 kilometers long and takes approximately 2 hours to complete🥾

🌚The Full Beaver Moon hike to Lough Curra in the Galtee Mountains is a magical experience. From experience the moon casts an ethereal glow on the landscape, illuminating the path and reflecting off the still waters of the lake. The air is crisp and the silence is broken only by the crunch of footsteps on the trail, the bark of a fox and the distant hoot of an owl.🌚

🦉The hike itself is moderately challenging, with some steep sections and rocky terrain. However, the reward is well worth the effort. As you reach the shores of Lough Curra, you'll be greeted by breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and the moonlit lake. It's a truly unforgettable experience that will leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. The Lough Muskry Cush Loop Walk is a 15-kilometer, 900m hike that takes you through the heart of the Galtee Mountains in County Tipperary, Ireland. The trail starts at Muskry car park and winds its way through Glengarra Wood before heading up the track to Lough Muskry. From there, the walk continues over bogland to Lough Borheen and then onto the mightiest peak in Ireland, Cush before descending back to Muskry car park via a different route.
