Over time, Walmart implemented multiple individual systems to help their Legal Associates in their work. The various structures have led to fragmented systems and data sets that have created inefficient workflow.
Goal.
To work with the Walmart team to build a single, modern platform that will have a compelling user experience and streamlined workflows to remove the dependencies and limitations of SaaS. We are also building an architecture to allow for easier, faster access to critical data.
“I was so stressed about the complexity of this project but Justin really put himself in our organization and always over delivered.” - WM Principal Product Manager
Metric.
Successfully onboard three teams across multiple tools to one platform. We wanted to make lives easier and free up legal teams to actually focus on their work and less checking tools. Users were living and getting flooded in email communication. This tool was to help prevent that.
Process.
Observe → Reflect → Make
To drive meaningful outcomes for this project, we first wanted gain a deep understanding of the challenges they faced. By constantly immersing ourselves in the worlds of these users, we ensured that our solutions would meet their needs. We spent the first two weeks identifying who are customer base was, their needs, and how they use their current tools. To verify, we spent several hours with these users. We wanted to design an all in one solution for managing cases, managing outside counsel, prioritizing cases, task management, and budget/billing.
After several weeks spending time with customers, both internal and external, we started the design process. Inspiration for this project came from all over based on the feature or the need.
Rapid, quick iteration prototyping allowed us to simulate ideas and test hypotheses quickly and cheaply. We would design and test with the business stakeholders on a weekly basis to get the proper feedback. After prototyping and approval process we moved on to using high fidelity mockups with Figma. We would meet weekly with with end-users to get feedback and also leverage survey tools like Maze to validate.
