One person can be a sufficient contact at the supply-side (Joey @ Dole can be the GUY and that’s it… not a team)
UX interview: showing screens and trying to understand who would engage at each step in the process.
Suppliers think that rejected loads are an issue for their business
Ask suppliers to equate a dollar amount to each rejected load
Other options available to them for the majority of rejected loads are time-consuming and expensive
Don’t like to throw away produce and would rather send it to a food bank if that option costs the same or less and doesn’t take up more time
3PLs have legal ability to deal with some portion of RJs that happen on their service
Marketing groups deal with most rejected loads for smaller to mid-sized farms
Are there other types of companies that suffer from RJ problem (that we haven’t discussed / addressed)?
Is going to buyers (supermarkets) & attempting to get cooperation there a viable strategy to get suppliers on board?
We’ll be able to access / get to the “right person” to work with us.
We know how to identify the right person / role.
Right person is able / willing to work with us.
Right person is ONE PERSON not a sales team / group.
How do we frame what we’re offering? (Narrative)
Does our pitch change based on size of company? Type (3pl vs. grower)?
Do we even need this step?
Pitching to someone high up in the company is an effective strategy for getting buy-in at the operations level.
Who do we pitch to?
Do we need contracts? What would this look like?
How do we follow up most effectively to make sure that we don’t stall out?
A yes from a high level employee will translate to operational engagement.
Once we get a YES from decision maker, how do we get into contact with operations people?
Operations strategy for RJs is similar enough across organizations that we’re not TOO customized
We need this step
What materials are helpful here?
What operational interface do we give them?
How do we onboard onto the product? Do we have a set of materials to do this?
What options do we have for troubleshooting?
Are there FAQs at this stage that could allow us to prep?
Operations people will be excited to use our product because it saves them time.
We’ll be able to match loads in under an hour.
Suppliers will put rejections onto our platform.
Suppliers will notify us of rejections that they’re not putting onto our platform (hope!).
Will we always have the volunteer capacity to match loads?
What happens when we can’t find a match?
What’s the worst-case scenario, and how do we plan for it?
Suppliers will choose doing this over another option.
Food product will be in good enough condition for food banks to accept
We’re not liable if someone gets sick
We’ll always have the data we need to make a match
We’ll always have the DOCUMENTATION we need to make a match
Suppliers will upload photos.
Suppliers will be willing to fill out a quick survey at the end of each rerouted load
