Diversity is valuable for many reasons.
One is that as the UK and world becomes more understanding of the different peoples, attitudes, social background and experiences that it is only natural that we need stories to reflect these. Everything from Derry Girls to I May Destroy You and Bridgerton are highlighting different stories that have traditionally not been seen on screen.
Another reason is that regulators and funders want to see this reflected in stories shown on screen. The for films it funds and broadcast TV and radio diversity. Now more than ever it makes sense for production companies to be mindful fo diversity when producing works.
