securing your stock

taping + gluing

While this is a less conventional method of workholding, it can be used to hold down otherwise tricky to secure parts. This includes very thin or organic shaped parts.
apply tape (painters, or powder coat tape) to BOTH your part and the work bed
apply a thin bead of glue in an serpentine (sine wave) pattern down the length of your part
Optionally, spray accelerator onto the tape that does NOT have super glue on it
if you do not spray accelerator it’s recommended you wait 20-30 minutes for the glue to properly adhere and reach it’s ultimate bonding strength prior to attempting to mill.
press your parts together for 10-30 seconds
alternatively you can clamp your parts for a few minutes to guarantee a secure fit
