Week 9

This Week’s Bible Story

Jesus Heals a Blind Man (Luke 18:35-43) One day, there was a blind man sitting beside the road. Jesus heard the blind man’s voice, and he immediately stopped what he was doing. He healed the man so that he could finally see. All who saw it praised God!
Monthly Verse: For we live by believing and not by seeing. 2 CORINTHIANS 5:7

Check-in + Worship

Connect
9:05 - 9:15
11:05 - 11:15

Let kids answer today’s icebreaker question: Can you think of a time when you had to wait really long for something? What was it?

Bible Story
9:15 - 9:30
11:15 - 11:30

Look up Luke 18:35-43 and tell the Bible story in your own words.
Key Story Points:
One day, there was a blind man sitting beside the road. He could hear the people getting excited about something. So he asked someone, “What is going on? Why is everybody so excited?” They told him that Jesus was coming into town!
The blind man could not see where Jesus was. So he shouted, “Jesus! Jesus!” But it was hard to hear his voice because of all the people around him.
Somehow, Jesus heard the blind man’s voice. He stopped what he was doing. “Who was that?” he said. As the man came near, Jesus asked, “What would you like me to do?”
“I want to see!” he said.
Jesus said, “All right, open your eyes! Your faith has healed you.” The man could finally see!
The man praised God. And all who saw it praised God too!

Debrief
9:30 - 9:40
11:30 - 11:40

What do you think it was like living so many years without being able to see?
Even after many years, the man hadn’t given up hope. Is there anything you’ve been waiting for for a really long time that you can ask God to help with?

Prayer Time
9:40 - 9:45
11:40 - 11:45

Close your small group time by praying with your kids. This week’s prayer focus is on PRAISE PRAYERS. Ask the kids in your group, “What is one thing you love about God?” (You may need to prompt kids with ideas.) Take time to pray for each of the things that were shared.

Activity
9:40 - 9:45
11:40 - 11:45

Kids stand in a circle. Leader picks one child to stand in the middle and be a blind person with their eyes closed. In a circle, other kids move around until the blind person yells “be quiet” and the rest of the class stops moving and stands still.
Leaders tap another student on the shoulder and the child says “here I am”. Now the blind person openes their eyes and need to guess who said “here I am”.
