Dear Guest,
Välkommen to the Nørdik Spa Arnold. We’re beyond excited to have you!

For many years we, your hosts, have explored the world through AirbnB and now we want to share some of our most loved experiences with you. Arnold, CA is an amazing location to enjoy the Scandinavian traditions of friluftsliv and hygge combined.

This place is very special to us. It is the place where our kids can experience the wonderful powers of the mountains (where we grew up!) combined with the wellness rituals from our travels. Did you catch the smell of the pines? Ahhh…it's our favorite. We have so many great memories attached to the Nørdik Spa Arnold, and we’re convinced that you will, too.

In this manual, you’ll find lots of useful information that we’ve compiled to help our guests make the most of their stay. From instructions on how to use the appliances, to recommendations for nearby restaurants and activities, we’ve got it all covered.

We hope that you enjoy the wonders on the mountain.
Have a great stay!
Sincerely,
Matt & Jenny

CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT TIMES
Check-in is from 3:00 p.m. and check-out is by noon.
If you’d like to request a late check-out, please contact us through any of the contact methods provided at the end of this manual. However, please be informed that we may not be able to grant your request if we have a same-day check-in.
PARKING INSTRUCTIONS
The Nørdik Spa is located on a small hill with an uphill driveway. For winter months (Nov.-April) it is recommended to have a 4 wheel drive or AWD vehicle. If ice or snow is present, you may not make it to the top in your vehicle and will have to walk the remainder of the way. 2-3 cars can easily fit in the driveway and most vehicles have no issues at all. Please do not park in the street! When it snows, plows need to come through on the road and your car can be towed.
Note: Do not leave food in your car. Hungry bears like to check cars around here.
WIFI DETAILS
The wifi network is ‘Nordicspa’ and the password is: curlyjungle427
CHECKOUT INSTRUCTIONS
Before you leave, we would greatly appreciate it if you could:
Put the dishes in the dishwasher and fire it up.
Strip the beds that were used and toss all the sheets on the ground by the bed. (This is a COVID cleaning best practice)
Double check that all trash, food and doggy messes are picked up outside (let’s not feed bears and other forest critters!!)
Return hot tub key to lockbox
Set the fireplace thermostat to 55 (on the left) and turn off the one on the right.
That’s it! Just double check the door on your way out … push the ‘Yale’ button on the lock and give it a pull to make sure it locks, please.
THINGS TO KNOW
We are on a septic system. You will find septic-safe soaps throughout the house. Please do not put any food or anything other than water down the kitchen drain. Please do not flush anything other than toilet paper.

The hot water works great, it just takes a good while to heat up.

HOW TO USE APPLIANCES

Fireplace:
You can adjust the temperature using the Fireplace thermostat on the left on the family room wall. Please do not leave the thermostat on above 64 when leaving the house.

A/C:
You can use the Nest thermostat to cool the house. Rotate the dial to the desired temperature. Please do not leave A/C on when leaving the house for the day.

Oven:
The oven is pretty simple. Press ‘on’ and set your desired temperature. That’s it.

Coffee machine:
The main coffee machine is on the kitchen counter. Please feel free to enjoy the fresh beans roasted right here in Calaveras County! There is a grinder located on the open shelves. If you would rather have an easier route to coffee, the Kurig and Nespresso are located in the cabinets below the coffee pot. Capsules are in the drawer below.

Dishwasher:
Please make sure the dishwasher is full before turning it on. You’ll find the soap tablets under the kitchen sink.

Garbage: Anything beyond what can go in inside bins can be put in the backyard shed. Padlock combo 2463
All garbage needs to be locked up cuz of bears and other mountain critters.

BACKYARD

Spa:
Please rinse off before going into the spa.
Hot tub lockbox combo: 2463 (there is a lockbox that is located on the back porch with a key to unlock the two locks on the front of the hot tub cover. Please replace the key after use.)
The spa is pretty simple. Push “jets” to turn the jets on and “lights” to turn the lights on. You can run the cleaning cycle after a day of use. It will automatically turn off when the cycle is done.

Sauna:
Sit on a towel, brah.
There is a light that is located on the ceiling. Push the “on” button located towards the back of the barrel. To turn on the heater, turn the knob on the left side of the heater. Please do not lay anything on top of the heater as it could cause a fire. THE HEATER IS VERY VERY HOT - BE CAREFUL!

To turn on the sauna:
Turn on the timer until you hear a click (that turns it on).
Then turn until you hear another click.
Then turn back to 1.
You should feel heat right away.

String Lights:
To turn on the string lights (between the trees) say, “Echo, turn on the backyard lights” while standing in the Family Room. To turn them off say, “Echo, turn off the backyard lights” from the Family room.

SIGHTS TO SEE AND THINGS TO DO

Hiking (Google these! 🙂)
Arnold Rim Trail
Natural Bridges Trail
Lakes (you know what to do!)
White Pines Lake
Lake Alpine
Restaurants
The Restaurant at Sequoia Woods Country Club
It’s known to be the best restaurant in Calaveras County for a reason. Book your reservations early.

Chevron Station
Yeah, we know … but it’s legit! It’s a local favorite for lunch-time sandwiches. You might want to call your order in if it is a weekday. The line gets long. Closes at 2 p.m.
Heart and Soul Country Kitchen
Cajun inspired awesomeness. One of the best breakfasts we’ve ever had.
Lube Room
Looking for a fun spot to chill, have a beer and get some grub? The Lube Room doesn’t disappoint. 15 minutes up Hwy 4, you will find this historic spot to enjoy a little food fun.

Murphys Pizza Company
It’s about a 15 minute drive and possibly the best pizza crust we have ever had. Well worth the adventure.

Cured Belly BBQ
Another restaurant in Murphys but right on Highway 4, on the left as you are headed back down the hill. Try the Shrimp and Grits if you love New Orleans style food.

Red Apple
If you want an apple treat, this is the place. The apple doughnuts are to die for!
