Rider Weight

The weight of the ride ready rider including helmet, glasses, shoes, etc., measured in kilograms (kg)

Bike Weight

The weight of the ride ready bike including water bottles, spares, cycling computer, etc., measured in kilograms (kg)

System Weight

The weight of the ride ready rider and the ride ready bike, measured in kilograms (kg)

Drag Coefficient

The “slipperyness” of the rider and equipment, measured in Cd

Frontal Area

The total area of the rider and equipment, measured in meters squared (m^2)

CdA

The product of the drag coefficient multiplied by the frontal area

Drive train

The mechanical inefficiencies in the system (chain, gears, bearings, etc.), measured in percentage (%)

Rolling resistance

The friction between the road and the tires, measured by Crr
