Intro
Warning: Meshlab command cannot be undo, so always duplicated a copy from the mesh first:
After import the mesh, turn on wireframe on top icon
Commonly use function in Filters:
Cleaning and Repairing, Smoothing, Fairing and Deformation
For example:
Remeshing: Surface Resonstruction: Screened Poisson (fill holes)
Remeshing: Subdivision Surface: Loop (smoothen those triangle edge polygons)
Smoothing: Random Vertex Displacement (displace each vertex to certain amounts)
Selection tools
First, need to clear unrelevant faces:
P.S. 3 selection tools below, recetangle selection (most left hand one only select the surface, won’t pass through inside of the mesh)
Use interactive Selection tool (to select all faces that connected to each other)
Select the whole mesh, click I to invert the selection
Select most right side Delete button
Second, clear some mesy bridge meshes
Use Area selection tool
Use key C, backspace, Q, W to select wanted area to delete. Careful when select on 1 side, the other side will be selected too, so need to subtract the wanted area (W key) before delete
To fill holes of the mesh after clean up, use Close hole:
Set maz size to be closed from 30 to 300
If show up this error, mean still need more clean up on the geomerty
If no error,
Then go to Filer → Selection. → Select None
Cleaning and Remeshing filter
First, Cleaning:
Start from Repair non manifold edge:
Remove face
Then remove Isolated pieces (both diameter and face num if needed)
Second, Remeshing:
Go to Remeshing, Simplification and Reconstruction tab
Then Unifrom Mesh Resampling → tick Clean Vertices, reduce the polygon size if wanted, e.g. here from 0.095 to 0.015 (to make all polygon roughly the same sizes)
A offset mesh new object is created
Another similar one for remeshing: This one may delete some sharper edge of the mesh
If want to reduce polygons, use simplfication tools
or Quardic edge collapse decimation
Suggested setting:
Third, Smoothing:
Choose Smoothing, Fairing and Deformation
Then Lapiacian Smooth
