-Create a material name as BG video:
At Color, Texture → Load image (or double click the bar) → choose No from the box when ask if want to create a copy;
then create a background layer: click Floor →Background → Drag created BG Video Material to the layer.
(to make the video play: go to Material Editor → Editor → Tick Animate Preview )
Adjust frame timeline and project setting, so to match the overall duration of the BG video length.
-Import 3D objects:
File → Merge Project → Choose No if ask want to reassign included takes
(Check the animation frame rate in timeline Dop sheet: Shift +F3, for Zoom in /out: Hold Alt & R click, Drag L/R, up/down, or scroll middle mouse; for hand tool moving: Alt + middle mouse dragging )
To make the object fully reflective (like a glass) : Material Editor → Reflectance → Add →CGX (reduce brightness if want less reflection)
-Create a floor as a background and blend with the BG video:
Floor→ create a layer → Drag the BG video on the floor layer
R click Floor layer → Render Tag → Compositing. Then at
Mode →Tag → Tick Compositing Background (will see the effect after click render view)
Shadow Casting on 3D objects by light:
Create required light on layer, adjust direction based on the real light direction from the footage.
At Mode → Shadow, choose Shadow Maps (Soft) → Shadow Map increase to 1500x1500 (enhance shadow resolution)
Remark: Shadow is only visible in render preview mode, so it’s needed to check there when adjust the light
Create a Sky layer → Compositing → Tag → Untick Seen by Camera (to hide the sky layer in the scene) →Drag the BG video on Sky layer
(The sky layer creates infinity sphere around scene, so all reflective surface in the scenes reflects the whole environment)
Improve shadow casting BG layer:
1.Add primitive object (cube/cone/cylinder/plane...) to simulate the BG footage video environment
Hide and Blend the primitive object: Copy BG video material (hide) and Compositing Tag (blend) on the object layer, Untick Cast Shadow and Tick Compositing Background of Compositing
2.Make shadow more blur/less sharp: Go to Light, At shadow Map Soft mode set before, increase sample radius from 3 to 6
4. Make shadow black color same as in footage (if the footage has shadow) : Light → Shadow →Color, pick the dropper and hit on real shadow area in the footage
Render Setting:
Anti-Aliasing: Change form Geometry to Best, max level: 2x2 (enhance from jagged to smoother reflection)
Effect (L bottom in box) :
Tick Ambient Occlusion → Back to Render preview, will see some contact shadow now
Tick Global Illumination → (Enhance lighting quality but longer render)
Output: Frame Range → All Frames
Save: Choose file location and Format of output (default as TIF)
Export final clip: At Render to Picture Viewer → Add to Render Queue → Start Rendering
