Clean up a mesh (smooth, fill holes, sculpt)



Delete /clean up:


Delete cube, light and camera in blender
Import the object (IF don’t see ply format, go to preference add on

Go to Edit mode, select the whole object, shift to front view
turn on x-ray mode

Select vertix

Hightlight the unwanted vertix, R click/delete key → Vertix

Back to Object mode
Move the object to axis anchor centre
R click on teh object, set Origin to Geometry (pivout point to the object centre)

Simplify polygon:


Add modifier Decimate (to reduce number of vertix)
if modifier tab not found, add a random mesh then delete it. the tab should be seen now

Reduce ratio from 1 to 0.3 →

Open the down arrow and click apply (make the modifier effect permanently)

Can redo again after apply to further reduce vertix

To apply modifier to all layers/objects:

Select all objects wanted to apply → Ctrl + A → View Geometry to Mesh

Or in Object → Convert → Mesh

Best way: Turn on Add on Modfier:

Then in modifier, 4 options are shown:

To make mult-object/layer into 1 for modifier functioning on, select them all and to Object → Join

Closing Holes:


In Object mode, choose the object
Add modifier Remesh:

Choose Vowel to Smooth
Increase Octree Depth to 7 (check the vertix number, should be less than after reducing, while balance the detail/resolution to as high as possible)

Apply

R click on view port, select shade smooth

Go to Sculpting Menu
Open the Tool bar and make sure Mirror XYZ are off in Symmetry:

Hold Shift + L click to smoothen rough pump out surface
WIthout shift key, will pump up the surface

Another tool is use Grab tool and increase brush size, to bump up
Or Elastic Defrom tool (below Grab tool)
