Metahuman UE5: Retarget from mannequin

Animating Metahuman (short)

Content → Quixel Bridge → login → Download Metahuman in 3rd icon → Add
Download Animation Starter Pack in Marketplace → Add project (select myself) → Select Version: 4.25 → Restart project

Skeleton link up with metahuman and mannequin:


In Content Browser, Content → MetaHuman → Name of Methuman (Hadly) → Drag BP_Hadly in the scene
Select Hadly → Body (Inherited) → Sketeal Mesh → Double click the box to open

Choose Skel (L side of Body) → Character → Bones → All Hierarchy

Choose Retarget Manager (top menu) → Select Rig (bottom L menu) → Select Humanoid Rig

Change Spine 01 to 03 as 02 to 04

Go to Skeleton Tree (turn on Show Retargeting Option at the setting button below) → Change pelvis to Animation

Select all the rest (Hold Shift) → R click → Recursively Set Translation Retargeting Skeleton (i.e. Change all selected to Skeleton)

Back to Retarget Manager → Modify Pose (bottom L corner) → None → type Retarget, then choose 1st option (f_med_nrw...)→ Import (coz the mannequin skeleton is wider than metahuman, it’s to fix it)
→ click Modify Pose again → Use Current Pose
→ Save, leave the window

Target the Animation pack downloaded:


In Content Browser → AnimStartPack → choose the animation wanted to target → R click → Retarget Anim Assets → Duplicate Anim Assets and Retarget → Choose the Metahuman skeletion → Retarget
(should appear option to choose in the box for targeting, but nothing come up here...)

Make Sequence and apply the animation:
In Cinematics (top bar) → Add New Sequence → open it, drag the matahuman (BP_Hadley) in the timeline → Open BP_Hadley → Body → +Track → Animation → Choose the Retarget animation created above
