FAQ’s
What if I have a pre-existing condition?
If you have a pre-existing condition then this plan has a 2-year moratorium that will affect your cover. Vitality will only begin to cover pre-existing conditions after you have been symptom-free for two years.
With any medical insurance plan, you typically need to be referred via GP for treatment. Please check with Vitality before you avail of any treatment to ensure it will be covered by the plan.
Why am I being taxed for this benefit?
Vitality insurance and Westfield cash plan are considered benefits-in-kind (BIK). A BIK is a broad term that covers benefits with a financial value that are not paid to you as cash. Some benefits-in-kind are taxable, others aren’t. Vitality & Westfield are considered taxable BIKs and so iwoca will be payrolling the tax of these for anyone that signs up for those benefits.
iwoca calculates the value of the benefit being provided to you during the whole year and then we collect the tax due on that benefit through payroll. The tax due on payrolled benefits is collected from your pay each month so that at the end of the tax year you should have paid all of the tax due on those benefits.
