Interview processes.

Our interview evaluation approach is objective and measured.
We look for evidence of core technical skills and experience. We assess critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. And, we evaluate reasoning and communication.
We collate interview performance data and aim to match the candidate to the right team, by aligning their strengths, motivations, learning goals and career aspirations.

Intro Call: Assessing iwoca’s match for the candidate.

A telephone interview with a tech talent partner to talk about iwoca, the hiring team, the role, working philosophy, career progression prospects and the candidate’s motivations.

Technical Tasks: Objectively measuring the candidate’s technical competency.

Carefully designed take-home tasks, designed to reflect the types of real-world projects you would tackle at iwoca. We give each candidate a randomised codename to reduce subconscious bias, and this means the reviewers mark the task attempts solely on the merits of the work example.

Technical Interviews: Evaluating the candidate’s technical and reasoning skills.

The interviewers actively assess the candidate's technical knowledge, their critical-thinking abilities and their reasoning skills. The candidate will be encouraged to ask questions, and will typically have 10-15 minutes to ask questions in this stage.

Decision-Making and Influence Interviews: Evaluating the candidate’s project experience and team fit.

The interviewers and candidate will discuss their technical project experience, commercial acumen and/or academic background. We are interested in learning about the candidates process for decision-making, and how they have & will influence projects. The interviewers will also be interested in learning the candidate's motivations, and the things they are seeking from their next role. The candidate will be encouraged to ask questions, and will typically have 10-15 minutes to ask questions in this stage.

Optional stages: Meeting the team and/or office visit

We are happy to set up extra calls, video meetings, or office visits to meet more people, and/or to talk through any unanswered questions. As much as iwoca is interviewing the candidate, it’s the candidates responsibility to interview iwoca; and we’re delighted to provide extra info to help the candidate make an informed career decision.
