AT 219 Autonomous Aircraft Technology and Maintenance 2
In AT 219, we read and discussed one article.
We also discussed operational planning and FAA waiver review. We were given a presentation, and a paper to read, about the constraints, rules, and mission planning of our upcoming flight for the Believer. The responsible party for our FAA waiver created a quiz for each of us to take to ensure we understand everything in the waiver and are prepared for flight operations.
AT 319 Unmanned Aerial Systems Applications, Data, and Documentation
In AT 319, we learned how to calculate volumes in Pix4D and ArcPro Software. We learned how to use extract by mask to conduct raster clips, how to work with data in another geodatabase, and how to use a variety of tools like fill, resampling, and more. In our lab, we further practiced these skills by using volumetric analysis in ArcGIS Pro. We performed extractions, surface volume analysis, and resampled data. In out lab we produced the following maps using these skills.
AFT 361 Leading People and Effective Communication
In AFT 361, we only had one lecture this week. We discussed mentorship and learned how to correctly mentor those who fall under our leadership. In addition, we submitted our Advocacy Position Papers. My position paper was on the topic, “How Nuclear Weapons Make The World A Safer Place.”
AT 381 Aviation Security
At AT 381, we had our first round of regulatory debates. We have been preparing for this debate for the last couple of weeks. In this debate, we were given 11 topics to prepare for. On the day of debate, your group was assigned a random topic, had 2 to 5 minutes to prepare, and then the debate began. My group was assigned against GA security being the same as commercial and against Part 139 applying to GA.
Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps
In AFROTC, we had one PT this week, which was dedicated to a squadron name-earning workout. At LLAB, we had a tabletop wargaming exercise. This exercise was to test our leadership and followership skills, as well as, help us grow in wargaming, critical thinking, multi-tasking, and decision-making. Finally, we had our LCC, Low-Combat Course, where we worked as a team to solve problems or missions randomly given to us.
Flight Training
I had two flight lessons this week. Both were focused on flying in the pattern, to perfect my takeoff and landings. In addition, we practiced emergency procedures, flying in high wind, practicing short approach landings, slips, and go arounds. All of these flights are to prepare me for my first solo.
