AT 219 Autonomous Aircraft Technology and Maintenance 2
In AT 219, we read and discussed one article.
In the lecture this week, we discussed ground control, flight planning, and common mistakes that were made in the previous week’s lab. We used class discussion to relate these mistakes to the Believer and worked through how the lab this week will work.
In the lab this week, we continued working on and gaining experience with the X-Plane simulator. We were introduced to the airport and to daily briefings, learned how to analyze operational planning, and practiced communication between teams. We got more practice creating flight plans in Ground Control Station and uploading them to X-Plane to confirm the parameters we set. Finally, we continued gaining practice as flying the safety pilot and GCS operator, switching commands, and practicing emergency landings with engine fires. This is all to prepare us for flying the Believer in the coming weeks.
AT 319 Unmanned Aerial Systems Applications, Data, and Documentation
With our professor back from his research in Peru, we had a normal lecture and lab for AT 319. In the lecture, we had a presentation on raster data models and analysis. In this presentation, we talked about different raster data, raster properties, raster resolution, classification, raster overlay, and more. In the lab, we put these skills to practice and made a variety of maps. They are listed below.
AFT 361 Leading People and Effective Communication
In our first lecture of the week, we had one more informal briefing that was on the geopolitical state of the world. In our second lecture, we watched videos about integrity. Furthermore, we had discussions based on how we, as future officers, can maintain integrity in difficult situations.
AT 381 Aviation Security
In Aviation Security, we talked about Aircraft Operator Security and Air Cargo Security. We discussed how to identify key aircraft operator security programs, the definition of specific roles, explained the law enforcement carriage rules, summarized in-flight threat response protocols, and more.
Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps
In Air Force ROTC, we had two Physical Training sessions. The first workout was dedicated to cardio that entailed lots of running. The second workout was focused on the lower-body. In Leadership Laboratory this week, we discussed the first 100 hours of Operation Fury in Iran. In addition, we were given two Group Leadership Projects that tested time management, communication, and teamwork.
Teaching Assistant
This week, as a teaching assistant for Aircraft Electrical Systems, students split up into groups of 2. We, the TAs, split up five different labs amongst ourselves. This was to ensure groups next to one another were not working on the same lab. These labs consisted of momentary switches, troubleshooting, learning how to wire the wiring diagram to achieve certain restraints, and learning how to read wiring diagrams.
Flight Training
This week I was to fly for five days; however, due to inclement weather, most of my flights were canceled. My flight instructor and I are continuing to work on pattern work to prepare me for my first solo flight.
