Week 14: April 20th - April 25th

AT 219 Autonomous Aircraft Technology and Maintenance 2

This week in AT 219, we had no lecture but instead dedicated the time to preparing our drones for our lab to fly. Before leaving the airport, my group calibrated all parameters, ensured parameters were correct, went through the packing checklist, and got a sign-off by our professor. When we go to the flight area, we begin setting up, assigning positions, and talking through a mission plan. Once we were ready to begin pre-flight, I led the groups through a thorough pre-flight checklist. We launched group 1, PUB01, aircraft first, and then landed it. Then a student wanted to try launching it. Once the aircraft was in the air the second time, our TA took turns having us get practice flying it. I flew for about 20 minutes.

AT 319 Unmanned Aerial Systems Applications, Data, and Documentation

This week in AT 319, I worked on the final project. On Wednesday, during our normal lecture time, I began to process our data. Our dataset was 524 images, and I used Drone2Map to process the data. After the data was processed, I began working on the maps that were needed for our final class report.

AFT 361 Leading People and Effective Communication

This week in AFT 361, we again had no lecture on Tuesday and finished up our final briefings on Thursday. This was our final class of the semester.

AT 381 Aviation Security

This week in AT 381, we had our second round of regulatory debates. My group went on Monday. We were assigned to debate why AI should not be heavily involved in aviation security and threat assessments. My group made the point that AI is prone to error, is expensive, and cannot be standardized across airports, and that AI can produce false positives.

Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps

For our final week of the semester for AFROTC, we had two PTs. On Monday, we had a competitive PT, where flights went up against one another, engaging in activities like burpee relays, 200-meter sprints, 5-minute plank holds, and tug of war. On Wednesday, we held a memorial wing 5k for Captain Koval. Captain Koval was a Purdue University graduate who gave his life defending his country on March 12th, 2026. Instead of having an LLAB this week, we had a Commanders Call. At the CCALL, we had a recap of the semester, gave our awards, and heard a speech from our Commander at Det 220.
