kNN model should be used as a baseline method for comparison with more advanced techniques.


Strengths

Model is very easy to understand
Gives reasonable performance without a lot of tuning
Fast training time

Weaknesses

Prediction time will be very slow for data sets with large number of samples or features
Performs poorly with high-dimensional or sparse data sets
