✅ Google Analytics 4 Setup (Universal Process)
🔹 Step 1: Prep Your Accounts
Log into your main Google Account (business or client-specific)
Visit
https://analytics.google.com
Click
Admin > Create Account
Name your account (e.g., "Sunshine Sites")
Enable data sharing settings as needed
🔹 Step 2: Create a GA4 Property
In the same Admin section, click
Create Property
Name (e.g., "sunshinemiraclecream.com")
Time zone and currency
Choose
Web
as data stream type
Enter full domain URL
Name the data stream (e.g., “Main Site”)
🔹 Step 3: Add GA4 Tag to Site
Copy the
G-tag (G-XXXXXXXX)
from the setup
Add to website header:
For WordPress: use
Insert Headers & Footers
or theme settings
For Shopify: paste into
theme.liquid
before
</head>
For Unbounce or Leadpages: use
Script Manager
Alternatively, install via
Google Tag Manager
🔹 Step 4: Verify Tracking Works
Use
Google Tag Assistant
or
Realtime Reports
in GA
Visit the website from an incognito browser to test real-time tracking
🔹 Step 5: Configure GA4 Essentials
Enable Enhanced Measurement (scrolls, outbound clicks, etc.)
Set up
Conversions
:
Sample: Form submit, button click, sample checkout
Link to Google Ads (if running ads)
Adjust Data Retention to 14 months (default is 2)
📈 Google Search Console (GSC) Setup
🔹 Step 1: Access GSC
Go to
https://search.google.com/search-console
Click
“Add Property”
🔹 Step 2: Verify Ownership
Choose one:
Domain (preferred):
Requires DNS verification
URL prefix (easier):
Lets you verify with HTML tag, GA, or file upload
Verification Options:
DNS TXT record (recommended for full domain)
HTML meta tag (for WordPress/Shopify etc.)
Google Analytics (if same account is used)
File upload (FTP access required)
🔹 Step 3: Submit Sitemap
Format:
https://yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml
If using WordPress + Yoast or RankMath, the plugin generates this
Shopify: Append
/sitemap.xml
to your store domain
🔹 Step 4: Inspect & Request Indexing
Paste live URLs into
“URL Inspection”
tool

for any new or updated page

clean, CBD-free domain
for Meta ad funnels to avoid risk of GSC/GA flagging
