About this template
Keeping your remote team feeling connected can be really difficult. We were definitely feeling the struggle, a year or so into the pandemic with a team spread across different cities and timezones.
I made this template to use during our Monday team kickoff to try something different and see if we could feel a little more connected. The team enjoyed it, and soon other teams in the company started using it too. Since then we’ve continued to mold it to the vibe of the team, but what stays the same is the want and need to stay connected.
We’ll run through this template in a 30m Zoom meeting:
Team Weather - Sometime’s it’s easy to forget that people on your team are in very different places from one another. Glancing at the weather at the beginning of your standup can be a nice way to stay in touch.
Photo Booth - Sharing what folks are up to outside of work can be a casual way to learn more about one another.
Kudos - Instead of doing a typical “standup” where people share what they’ve done, you might try having people take a moment to appreciate their colleagues while still hearing what’s going on.
Key Dates - No need to talk so much through this, but an easy way to remind people of key dates and metrics
Announcements Announcements are usually time for logistical things, but have fun with it by celebrating someone’s birthday or maybe a work anniversary.
