- Each player chooses a "421" name which is adorned at the top of the scorecard
- any player who has previously won a game of 421, may also include their symbol at the top of the scorecard
- A scorecard is drawn up consisting of two rounds (the second round must always be longer -i.e. have more turns - than the first round)
- if you want to play multiple games or create a record of past games, just copy the scorecard section for a new game (or just copy the existing scorecard table in the same scorecard section)
- to add turns to the round follow the instructions in the
- A scorer is designated to record each player's score for every turn. At the end of each round, the scorer will read out the scores in a French accent
- Only the scorer should be reading the scorecard at any given time (you'll have to use the honour system for this!)
How to play:
- Given this game is played remotely, you will need to first create a virtual circle for all the players invovled (as if you were sitting around a physical table) and give each one a position in that virtual circle
- To determine who goes first, each player rolls all the dice, just once. The player with the highest score goes first, and the game then proceeds clockwise in your pre-determined virtual circle. This should be reflected in the order on the scorecard (first player on furthest left)
- Each player gets 3 rolls per turn, to get the most favourable combination of the 3 dice
- after your first roll, you can pick up and re-roll as many or as few of the dice as you like on each roll
- Each roll holds a score (listed below) and that score is logged at the end of each turn
- The player with the highest score at the end of the game, is crowned the winner
- The winner is celebrated on a podium at the bottom of the scoresheet, and their symbol is proudly drawn
Special Considerations:
- If you hit 4 2 1 you must have a drink (a shot if you're feeling brave)!
- If you roll a 4 5 6, each person must shout respect and give a virtual fist-bump
- If you roll a 1 2 3, and someone shouts "stop" before you click the roll button, your turn ends there (you can still collect points)
- If you roll a 2 2 1, having announced it before rolling, by saying "nunnete" then all players will applaud and you can mark your score with the image of butterfly next to it (in the case of a tied score, a nunnette will act as a tie-breaker)
- Except in the case of a Royale (see below) the order of the dice is not important for any combination
- Naming roll combinations and creating new traditions associated with them is highly encouraged
Points System:
- 1 1 x = x points
- x x x = x points
- 1 1 1 = 7 points
- straight (e.g. 3 4 5) = 2 points
- 2 2 1 = 0.5 points
- 4 2 1 = 8 points
- if the 2 is from the royale dice, then worth 10 points
- 3 5 6 rolled 3 times in a row (in the same turn) is worth 20 points
- Any other combination is simply worth 1 point
- Any roll is worth an extra point if rolled on first turn
- exceptions: 4 2 1 is worth 2 extra points
1 1 x is always worth the same number of points no matter what
