I’m an entrepreneur with an interest in philosophy
What I’m working on
I’m part of the team which is building Goodlaw
We let immigrants easily get quality legal advice. Goodlaw combines human lawyers with AI which means immigrants get a dramatically better service for exponentially cheaper
Before founding Goodlaw I worked on Dedicated.ai which let businesses get all of their employees to help with sales. Dedicated.ai was funded by top VCs including Village Global - the VC backed by Reid Hoffman
In the past, I worked as a software developer. But I don’t consider myself to be technical anymore
Today, I’m a very excellent generalist. Being a generalist lets me assemble better teams because I can fill most gaps in most teams. Which lets folks focus on the tasks they’re most excited to work on
Work style
The team at Goodlaw works faster than others
Get Shit Done → When something is supposed to happen. It just happens
Right now → Action items are EOH (end of hour) or EOD
Only Big Shit → We pursue things which might be huge. Even if they’re unlikely to work
Festina Lente (or make haste slowly) was the motto of Augustus and of the Medicis
The Medicis painted frescos of a turtle with a sail all over Florence to symbolize Festina Lente
Augustus would get upset when generals rushed into battle without planning. Because this would slow progress
Often, the fastest path is hard because it feels uncomfortably slow
My best decisions
I’m originally from Canada. The best decision I made was moving to America
Dropping out of college means I was working during the most productive years of my life
Not having a phone since 2016 has improved my quality of life
I recently left social media. Lets see if I stick with that. It’s given me a lot of time back
→ Plato’s definition of Justice was offensive to me and in contradiction with my values. Reading The Republic was the first time that I truly understood a different perspective
