Creating a landscape is easy to do.
Go to the landscape tool (Shift + ‘2’) and set your desired settings for your landscape.
Make sure that ‘Enable Edit Layers’ is ticked on.
By default, the landscape will be created one meter above the grid, to avoid Z fighting.
TIP: Type in values instead of using the sliders. Certainly do this when working with landscapes.
→ Less chance of crashing or freezing.
Landscape tools
It feels a bit like using ZBrush, but tailored towards landscapes.
You can sculpt in/out, erode, smooth, etc..
One you can look into, is the Landmass Plugin. (And make sure to check on ‘Enable Edit Layers’)
With this plugin you can create procedural and non destructive landscapes.
Material functions
Defenitely use material functions for texturing landscapes.
Material functions plus greypacking will keep your game running smooth.
With material functions you can blend multiple materials with eachother.
