Vision

Kuku FM's vision evolved from being just an audio-based platform to a comprehensive entertainment platform, we faced the dual challenge of transforming our home page and listening experience (show pages, player page, show lists) to accommodate diverse content types (audio, video, comics) and increase repeat listening. Your task is to create a solution demonstrating your ability to solve these challenges through thoughtful design and strategic thinking.

Objective

Pick any one flow within app and try to improve its performance so that better conversion can be achieved.

Problem Facing

Home page engagement is suboptimal, resulting in low user conversion and retention rates.

Assumed Problem

Users are encountering difficulties in making decisions on the home page, leading to a negative impact on overall conversion rates.

Goal-specific shows are a relatively new concept in this market, offering Kuku FM a unique opportunity to differentiate itself and establish a strong brand presence. By focusing on targeted content, Kuku FM can enhance user engagement, leading to higher conversions and increased revenue.


#Usability Testing Plan

Objective

To evaluate the effectiveness of the audio streaming platform's homepage in allowing users to easily identify and locate desired shows, particularly within the crime category.

Target Audience

Primary Users: Audio streaming platform users who are primarily interested in discovering and listening to shows.
Secondary Users: Casual users who may occasionally use the platform to listen to shows.

Testing Environment

Hardware: Devices representative of the platform's target audience (e.g., smartphones, tablets, computers).
Software: The audio streaming platform's latest version.
Location: A quiet, controlled environment where users can focus on the testing tasks.

Testing Tasks

Task 1: Discover New Shows
Ask users to explore the platform's homepage and find two shows that seem most interesting to them based on the available information (e.g., titles, descriptions, artwork).
Observe their methods of browsing and any factors that influence their selections.
Task 2: Find Crime Shows
Ask users to navigate to the "Crime" category or use the search bar to find shows related to crime.
Observe their methods of finding and exploring the crime category.
Once in the crime category, ask users to find two shows that seem most interesting to them based on the available information (e.g., titles, descriptions, artwork).

Data Collection Methods

Observations: Observe users' actions, facial expressions, and verbalizations during the tasks.
Think-aloud protocol: Ask users to think aloud as they complete the tasks, expressing their thoughts and feelings.
Post-task interviews: Conduct brief interviews with users after they complete the tasks to gather their feedback and impressions.

Analysis

Qualitative analysis: Analyze users' comments, observations, and think-aloud protocols to identify common themes, pain points, and areas for improvement.
Quantitative analysis: Analyze metrics such as task completion time, error rates, and user satisfaction ratings.

Expected Outcomes

Identification of areas where users experience difficulty in finding shows, particularly within the crime category.
Assessment of the effectiveness of the homepage's design and navigation, especially for users interested in crime content.
Recommendations for improvements to enhance show discoverability and user satisfaction, specifically within the crime category.

Next Steps

Basis of feedback, do iteration and test again with small group of users.
Will make it live, and see how it performs. Basis of data if identify any more pain point and opportunity areas will work on them and fix it.
