A free guided community-led walk sharing history from gay bars gone by.

From discos and dive bars to clubs and cabarets, we’ll observe the shifting typology of queer spaces in New York City--from the 1880s until today. We'll hear from "those who were there" and those working to preserve and uncover queer history, which has so often been overlooked and under-documented.

"Gay Bars That Are Gone" is organized by Michael Ryan (@michaeljamesryan) and Kyle Supley (@kylesoutthere) since 2015. Along with your hosts, a mix of guest speakers remember and share history of gay nightlife spots gone-by. Have a story / some history to share about a gay bar that is closed? Email mjamesaryan@gmail.com.

RSVP to receive event updates, but no reservations are required--just show up! The walk lasts just under 2 hours. Rain or shine.
