Working as Service Designer & Workshop Facilitator in Saltolab, 2022
The first market where you can buy an NFT that can be exchanged for a real bottle of wine. Guido Pellegrini, Founder
Context
Mangoo Dev team asked us if we would train their team into new ways of ideating and validating product solutions. After a bunch of interviews with the team we discovered an opportunity to implement our service of hands-on design sprint training program.
This is a service I create in Saltolab in order to provide design and tech teams with a recipe for continuous improvement without the need of a monthly compromise with us.
Project overview
Mangoo saw a niche in the market with purchasing power that doesn't feel comfortable with traditional investment options and may be interested in Winefor proposal. This would represent a business opportunity for Mangoo, the tech team behind the service development.
Winefor proposal as a solution hypothesis:
Buyers can sell their NFTs to others or exchange them. Wineries can sell their wines through the platform at zero cost. The platform will charge a percentage of each sale. 10% for the first sale and 5% for subsequent ones. The team was formed by 3 Project Managers, 4 UXers, 1 Content Designer and the 2 Dev founders.
We successfully met the objectives and provided the client with all the workshop materials for each day, along with a roadmap outlining the steps to shape and launch the business idea.
What We Aimed to Achieve
From a business perspective, the aim was to explore the potential of creating a new vertical capable of driving finance results to Mangoodev and to launch an MVP as a foundation for the development of other proposals related to wine and NFT technology.
Facilitation and Training Goals:
To teach Mangoo team the fundamentals of the Design Sprint Method with a hands-on approach on a real project, To assist Mangoo in defining and ideating a prototype that helps validate Winefor as a solution for individuals looking to invest in the world of wine through technology. To validate Winefor's value proposition with real people through the design of a prototype in a Design Sprint setting. Our Strategy
We develop a training in Design Sprint based on Winefor case, challenges and opportunities in order to:
Transmit the Design Sprint methodology to Mangoo in a practical, hands on way, so they can apply it on their own and integrate a new way of working together. Reach the third day of the Sprint with a concept that allows Mangoo to prototype and validate the experience Winefor can offer its users. Complete a backlog with ideas generated during the 3 days of the sprint that won't be prototyped. My Inputs
Project Management: I crafted and implemented a collaborative work roadmap to define and produce results with the client. Team Interview: to understand the service design scope, audience and goals, I performed a series of stakeholder and other team members interviews. Training Goals Definition and Team Alignment: I briefed the project in a document in order to ensure team and client alignment throughout the process. Collaboration and Input Gathering: Collaborating with various teams, I gathered inputs and material to inform the ideation dynamics and the decision making process. Workshop Design: I collaborated with my co-facilitator partner to design and create the workshop space, supplies and training materials. Design Sprint Facilitation: I co-facilitated the Design Sprint during the 3 days of training. Bring all and everyone together. I synthesized all key points to really get to the heart of what people are saying and how they wanted to proceed. Collaborative Service Design: Working in tandem with UX/UI designers, PMs and developers my partner and I contributed to designing the Winefor first MVP. Design Sprint Report and Next Steps Roadmap: This report assisted project managers prioritize ideas and define the project scope for the next quarter.
Feel free to reach me in case you want to see more details of this project. I can walk you through the Design Sprint workshop that I co-facilitated, design files related to the project, impact metrics and much more.
