Fossil Banks Campaign targeting Royal Bank Canada’s Annual General Meeting/La campaña de los bancos fósiles se dirige a la Asamblea General Anual del Royal Bank Canadá

On April 7th 2022, RBC will hold its annual general meeting. We are bringing the resolution to end fossil fuel financing to let them know customers across Canada demand they stop funding the rapidly escalating climate crisis. Through our organizing, we hope to build a clear public narrative that RBC does not have our best interest in mind: instead they are prioritizing profit over people and planet.

Young people pose a credible threat to financial institutions' business models as a longer-term customer base. Therefore, we are mobilizing a wave of youth to pressure banks, a key supporter of the fossil fuel industry, to stop financing fossil fuel projects. We are also organizing to halt insurance for and investment in new fossil fuel projects, end government fossil fuel subsidies and respect the Free, Prior and Informed Consent of Indigenous Peoples.
