Fossil fuels are weapons of mass destruction, threatening our ability to protect livelihoods, security and the planet.

Even though fossil fuels have driven 86% of CO2 emissions in the past decade, governments are still on track to produce more than twice the coal, oil and gas allowable for a livable planet.

The world has used treaties in the past to manage, restrict and phase out dangerous things like nukes and landmines. Today, our world needs a Fossil Fuel Treaty, one based on three pillars:

Non-Proliferation: Stop expansion.

Fair Phase-Out: Get rid of the existing threat.

Just Transition: Accelerate an equitable transition.

Join more than 2,000 youth activists around the world calling for a Fossil Fuel Treaty by signing this letter. This is the year we can get nation states on board alongside 101 Nobel Laureates, 3K scientists, 40 cities, 170 parliamentarians and tens of thousands of others.

We need governments to know how BIG of a movement this actually is as we roll into Stockholm+50 and COP27 in the hopes of getting a real negotiating mandate for the Fossil Fuel Treaty in the UN system this year.

Los combustibles fósiles son las armas de destrucción masiva de hoy: amenazan nuestra capacidad de proteger la vida, la seguridad y el planeta.

A pesar de que los combustibles fósiles hayan causado el 86% de las emisiones de CO2 en la última década, los gobiernos siguen en camino de producir más del doble de lo permitido para un planeta viable.
