Background
Venezuela did not help create the Escazú agreement, and is not part of it. As a result of the ongoing Venezuelan Presidential Crisis, the county is currently unlikely to focus any government efforts on environmental law.
The environment
Venezuela ranks 10th highest for current biodiversity when compared with all other countries, but deforestation is very prevalent in venezuela. As a result of many recent oil spills, many natural water supplies are contaminated.
