Measuring Impact in DesignOps
The most challenging part of DesignOps is helping the design department communicate impact at scale. Together with Z and Farid, we will help you to create your own story of how different practices and teams within your organization can put more focus on outcomes based on real metrics. We are going to collaborate and work together in groups to understand which metrics are important, and how to capture and communicate them to your organization. As a result, you will create a newsletter or a presentation starter kit with actual metrics to share within your organization with a visualized process on how to support it.
The hardest part of DesignOps is showing the design department's impact on a large scale, but in this event, I will help you create a story about how your organization can focus on outcomes using real metrics, and together we'll create a newsletter or presentation starter kit to share within your organization.
Theme Four: Visiting the Future of Design Operations
While DesignOps is just getting going in many settings, it’s been thriving long enough in others to have moved well beyond the basics of operational support to helping shape and drive organization-wide strategy for both design and product companies. Creating a governance model for design system core team
How can we help the education industry adapt to the new normal?
Our colleagues from EPAM Russia will talk about collaboration with the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Products and Solutions division, founded in the 18th century and being a leader in the education services market. 2020 has become an explosive year for the education sector, many organizations (schools, universities, including corporate ones) and students themselves have switched to remote forms of education. Under these conditions, the project team had to create a new product family.
The team will talk about what approaches and technologies they use in creating UX/UI and in developing the mobile part of products, as well as talk about the Machine Learning concepts used and what effect is expected from their implementation.

Moving from Design Library to Design System
Farid Sabitov will share his personal story of how he created and integrated design system activities into the agile process on the project level. Here are some highlights:
Governance model
Farid will share his approach that was recognized and appreciated by Nathan Curtis. How a design system process is tracked in issue tracking systems like Jira/TFS/Gitlab. Ceremonies, detailed activities, and DoD for each component release.
Design Automation Scripts
How Farid improved efficiency by creating scripts and plugins that are helping to prepare auto-generated documentation, show components that were used in the prototypes organized by atomic design, and many more
Live Demo
That will be a great chance to see everything in action and ask any questions about the process, previous mistakes, and plans.
In this event, I will share my personal story of integrating design system activities into the agile process, including governance models, design automation scripts, and a live demo.
Personal story of how we not only improved the way of how designers worked with the other team members and external stakeholders but also found the ways to automate the routine work.
The goal of the story is to motivate other people to build custom scripts, plugins, extensions, and products. Also, we’ll cover how open source projects can help to increase brand awareness to attract the best talents in the world. Actionable insights to boost up the automation process.
Farid will share some insights on how to analyze and find the weak spots in the design teams’ processes. Then he will provide an action plan on how to automate different aspects of the work as well as simplify the onboarding process for the newcomers.
I improved how designers work with others and automated routine tasks, motivating others to do the same. I'll share insights on analyzing weak spots and provide an action plan for automation and onboarding.
We see that methodologies like design thinking, lean UX are able only qualitatively improve our products. By understanding user problems, conducting market research, and validating our hypothesis we are able only to improve the things that the market already has. But what if we would like to come up with more innovative ideas on a larger scale?
During the innovation workshop, we will break the thinking templates and will generate a lot of innovative ideas that are out of the box. By using activities like opposite thinking, trend matrix, analogy thinking, and my personal evolution analysis technique we will learn how to use these tools and some practices that will help your team to think differently than others.
Innovation workshops will help your team members to think on a larger scale. Motivate them more because they will be able to see the future and feel the future impact on humanity. Adjust or setup the right vision and strategy of your company
In this innovation workshop, we will learn how to break thinking templates, generate innovative ideas, and think on a larger scale using various tools and techniques, ultimately helping your team to see and feel the future impact on humanity.

Handoff Automatisation and Themed Design System with Figma API
Every Design Library contains styles, assets, and components. By using Figma's components, layer/text/effect/grid styles we are able to specify the main design tokens for our styles, so the FE team can find the names of design tokens that were used in "Code" mode directly in Figma.

Right now we support colors, typography and effects import by Figma API and working on spacings right now. If you would like to have more consistent spacings in your designs by using Auto layout feature and
Figma plugin you can achieve such results. Please provide any feedback on how the Spacing Manager could be improved.
Regarding the assets, our FE team implemented auto-export capabilities via Figma API. When the designer adds a new icon on a specific frame, our extension automatically imports all the available icons as SVG directly into the dev environment with the same names as in design. We are also planning to add SVG sprites in the future.
Regarding the components, we are working on common vocabulary right now and there are some solutions on the market that can help. Will present more results in the future. We also covered the importance of specifying the right data naming conventions in design components.
As a result, by implementing the right practices we were able to increase the speed of the handoff process with theming capabilities without spending hours of communications and fixes.
