Once a prosperous and expansive kingdom, Sturgia is now a small region ruled by the Church of the Great. The Great Cathedral of Saint-Astrid protects its people against acidic tideswashing the land from life, and the Holy Ulfedhnars protect the trade routes to the Eastfrom the mindless heretic hordes.
The Planes of Life and Death occupy avery important place in their society, as it is linked to their religion.

The West

When a group of merchantsfelt the need to elevate their trade, a millennia ago, they split from the Crownand united under the banner of Baron Balduran. Baldur’s Gate now control the fluvial trade routes this side of the continent, earning them considerablewealth. The city is known for its engineers and its magic academies.
The City holds a firm grip on its magic practitioners,assigning one to every major house to assist in finances and bring good fortune.
Waterdeep, home of the Gondola Barons

After the Barony of Baldur’s Gate was established, another Baron rose to prominence and founded Waterdeep. Situated in a region full oflagoons, rivers and lakes, the city itself is built on top of a lake, so gondolas are the main mode of transportation. The city is known for itsarts and its navy.
Waterdeep has alooser grip on magicians of all sorts, but treats them a separate social class.
Elturel, the Fallen City of Steel

When they saw two Barons rising to power, the merchants of the North-West banded together to protect themselves from the greed of their neighbors and founded Elturel. They founded a strong military order to protect themselves, and stayed relatively isolated from the other Baronies. But 5 years ago, internal conflicts and betrayal led to the whole cityfalling into the Plane of Death. Few people escaped, but the fate of the city is still unknown. The City was known for itssteel and heavy soldiers.
There was a systematic enlistment of mages if they showed any kind of proficiency for battle.
The East
Aserai, the Golden Republic of Athkatla

In the middle of a burning desert, behind salt dunes andgreen oases, stands the Golden City of Athkatla. Ruled by an elected leader, the Aserais prides themselves on the quality of their science, arts, and their arcane researchers. There is a very strict social hierarchy, based on precious metals, and people can be elected to ahigher or lower tier based on their actions.
Mages do not have a special status in the Aserai Republic.

Far away to the South-West, stands the great pyramid of Eshpurta, home to a million souls. Rumors talk of gigantic war elephants, soldiers rising from the dead and brightlycolored clouds hanging around the tallest spires Calradia has ever seen.

The Khuzaits, Shepherds of the Endless Plains

The nomadic Khuzaits live on the Endless Plains, a region full of grassy plains, cold tundras, and dry savannas. Always on the move, they’re mainly shepherds and merchants. If you’re lucky, the Khuzait Horde you’ll meet is made out of yaks and sheep. If not, you won’t be able to run away from theHorde of Khan and its mounted archers.
