GOAT Code - swing with hands and core.
Ever since Chuck (founder of RS) broke his neck and left wrist he has struggled with lead side swing. Additionally, he has felt compelled to learn the Trail Side swing like Tiger. At some level the Lead Side Swing relies on being “ZEN” in the hoping everything works out and telling the arms and wrists to magically square club face. Tiger through all his surgeries had to create power WITHOUT relying on joints. He has reworked his swing to follow swing concepts that mirror throwing motion concepts.
I personally think this is a game changer because the transition for most players will be much faster and the concepts learned are immediately applicable. You first learn to putt. Then to chip. I love this. With C4, nothing really applies to golfing now until you have done 1000’s of reps. Many of those reps without a club.
I also think kids learn to swing naturally Trail Side. How cool would it be to mentor your child by helping them understand the GOAT Delivery Position. That’s it! At least until they mature and are able to better understand how to engage their core.
Sometimes the right mechanics will translate into the right feeling.
The right feeling will always translate into the right mechanics.
Left side swing and C4 teaches mechanics. Some get the feeling from mechanics. Others don’t.
RS goal is to quickly teach people the right way.

Hang back on your trail side Or turn and rotate chest hard 1.1 Intro
Trail Arm, use the hand closest to the club face From putter to driver - same stroke Start from the putter - I love this! Immediate application! Elbow pit must be away from you - supinated GOAT Delivery Position - club face is square at impact 1.2 GOAT Delivery Position (GDP)
When hands are over trailing leg Elbow supinated pointing away from you Open hand pointing away from you Then slightly bend elbow and wrist Elbow is pointing down target line From top of backswing, want to feel how to get into GDP 1.3 Grip
Imagine clock on butt of club First crease of middle finger needs to be at 10 o’clock Crease points up forearm to trail shoulder Should be able to see finger nails on top of grip Fit in such that crease matches the other crease. Should be able to hinge and un-hinge the trail hand to square face with no rotation! 1.4 Setup
Pivot at hips so that club is natural working up not flat Butt of handle should point at belt buckle Flare lead foot 20 degrees Shoulders are bit open, lead shoulder retracted a bit, trail shoulder protracted a bit because of grip No axis tilt. Only comes from shoulders being retracted and protracted a bit. Draw more access tilt - so that club can stay on path longer 1.5 Ball Position
Want to play further back in stance Don’t be afraid to play ball back Pivot is in different place than lead side. 1.6 Trail Hand Putting
2.1 Trail Hand Chipping
Un-hinge on follow through Club face stays open - Toe does not pass the heel - toe does not release 2.2 Ripper Chip - 58 degree or greater
Same ball height, just more spin and less roll out Shallow, low, big bottom arc is critical Too high? Then too much wrist action. 2.3.a Lead Hand Chipping
Body movements are so important Forward press - get initial tension in facia Whole body moves a bit forward trail shoulder moves a bit down It should feel like it is part of the swing lead shoulder moves down toward ball lead knee bends towards ball Head moves a bit forward toward target Pressure moves to lead side If you drive off of trail side you will pull 2.3.b Body - chipping drill
Drop your back foot - on you toe - Scotty Then feet both back together 2.4 Progressive Drill and Add Lead Hand
All fingers are off of the club - thumb on handle and part of grip Interlock with lead hand outside or on top of trail hand 2.5 Lead Hand Ripper
Lead needs to be able to help maintain more loft Can open face more - on back swing the face no longer matches spine angle Ball off of front toe - when lead hand is on club, the bottom of swing arc is more forward. This is similar to C4 matching thumbs chip 2.6 Club face is King
Club face is square down the target line as long as possible This is cool. In C4 I always ended up swaying to accomplish the same thing. Spine tilt or side bend - maintains keeping the club face square Feel how to keep club face square to target line with stick Hold your release with trail hand still hinged Weight/pressure has to be on lead side Lead hip is king - move into neutral joint and back out of away. Use abductor and glut to rotate Hands are firm on club so that you maintain control 3.1 Power from Core to hand
Like hitting a tennis ground stroke Fire core - goes back then drives forward Core includes stomach, hips and glutes We are not hip whipping. Facia works the rest of the body They actually open up as core fires They stretch the facia across body up to shoulder - that is back and in 3.2 Pitch
4.8 Sequence
Lateral, Rotation, Vertical Step-step or trail-side - lead-side Take a step to trail side(an AXIOM alternative thought) Into outside of trail foot Briefly get off lead foot Quickly get off trail foot Keep trail leg angled or anchored - don’t sway So that you can drive off of trail side into lead side. Maintain GDP as long as possible Full release happens after ball Maintian elbow pit position with chest through follow through Elbow pit and chest point together In following through - elbow pit points to sky. Avoid hip whip by using core - which actually moves trail foot back like Scotty Your leg will naturally straighten - snap Practice with trail arm only
4.10 Takeaway
Clubhead needs to stay outside hands Arm, clubface and spine are all on the same plane Drill (very similar DEAD drill) Slide lead Shoulder down - tilt shoulders trail leg straighten - knee goes straight back
