Aloha! I am Dmitri Sunshine and my mission in life is co-creating holistic communities designed to empower people to live as their highest version, mentally, physically and spiritually, while in harmony with nature.

I am grateful to have been endowed with the type of mindset that allows me to take on any kind of challenge, while understanding that it’s all about being in flow and enjoying the journey. I highly value authenticity, transparency and communication.

Experience

I taught myself how to code and started as a software developer right out of high school so I got a taste of corporate life but I’ve spent most of my career as a Software Architect and Entrepreneur after I founded InReach Solutions in 2007 to help social-service agencies by providing them with a highly-customizable and automated database that freed up social-workers to focus on the human side instead of wrestling with technology.

My favorite part besides wearing a multitude of hats and the learning that comes with them, was creating an ingenious framework which generated it’s own code allowing an unprecedented level of flexibility of the underlying schema and empowering superusers to heavily customize through a GUI.

Community

I became passionate about intentional-communities after visiting various communities and seeing the kind of lifestyle that was possible, especially in well-organized ones. It became apparent that communities and sharing are the crux of sustainable living and that we need to empower more people to start their own communities to provide enough flavors that would allow people to find their Goldilocks community.

During the height of the pandemic I went out on a limb to create my own little holistic intentional-community in Portland, Oregon, called Serenesia, which quickly became the center of the ecstatic dance community since we were the only ones willing to risk holding events during the lockdowns. Dance-Church, as it came to be know, was the medicine that pulled many people through that long, dark and lonely PNW winter and it felt like a duty to provide it.

Being of Service

I believe it’s all about how we can best be of service to all the other life forms that we inhabit this planet with, which I’ve come to realize is a living organism after witnessing the lava flowing out in Hawaii and feeling the pulse of our mother earth’s heartbeat. The real challenge for me is where and how do I apply my extensive set of skills to help create a more beautiful world in the quickest way possible since we don’t have the luxury of time at this point.

While I can take on any kind of technical task, including mechanical systems, and troubleshooting code is second nature, I prefer to engage on the human side. Some of my strongest qualities when it comes to connecting with others is an unshakeable confidence and the ability to be fully present, so I believe that I can engage well with all levels of people and would be instrumental with bringing the right partnerships onboard.

My life experiences have brought me a lot of humility so I am content with taking on all sorts of trivial tasks while looking for ways to streamline them. It’s all about filling the gaps where most needed and working yourself out of jobs. I naturally gravitate towards the organization, documentation and the project management side to ensure that everyone is on the same page and we are being efficient as a team. I love the feeling when teams and projects feel so well orchestrated that the work flows effortlessly.

Zen-Mind

I am detail oriented and geek out on design of all sorts, from UX to the natural world. I believe that the best designs come from intuition and the sub-conscious mind, so I work from this Zen mind state as much as possible with meditation being an essential daily practice, along with spending enough time in the Wild to reset and allow myself to be a clearer conduit.

I prefer work bouts where there is a big push and then a bit of a lull to rest and reset to prepare for the next push, so project based work would be ideal. I am hoping to co-create a co-working space in Vilcabamba which has become my home, so I can work alongside others and we can inspire and amp each other up, even if we are working on different projects.
