DMG is a grassroots, community-driven not-for-profit video game arts organization founded in 2012. We create space for communities that are often marginalized in tech and games spaces to make, play and critique video games within a cultural context. This role will be working across a number of our current projects including: , & developing our founders support fund.
We are seeking an Executive Director to work beside our Programming Director to ensure the smooth running of DMG. This role will be a co-directorship with our Programming Director. This person will be responsible for more general community outreach as well as partnerships with community orgs, industry folks and funders.
Job Summary
Compensation: $47,000/year Vacation: 3 week minimum vacation Location: Anywhere in Canada Deadline: September 22, 2022 Start date: ASAP, with flexibility based on selected candidates' needs Hours at DMG are flexible though the office tends to be most active Wednesday - Saturday 11:00-7:00 EST. Since we run events regularly it is assumed you will be working evenings and weekends semi-regularly. Sunday and Monday are reserved for DMG’s weekends to ensure staff have 2 days off in a row. About you
Is familiar with games and/or media arts organizations or creative communities in Canada Has strong communication skills both written and spoken. You will be the main initial point of contact to those interacting with the organization. Has some prior experience managing multiple projects running at the same time Understands the barriers people with intersecting marginalized identities face in accessing tools, resources, networks and support in games Interested in creating a work environment which supports the health and well being of its workers About the contract
There are two priorities for this role, first ensuring existing programs run smoothly and secondly working with the Programming Director to create a roadmap for future DMG activities.
Community Engagement
Ensuring members' needs and experiences are reflected in DMG activities. Creates space for the community to gather and support one another Support community outreach to diverse communities nationally. Facilitating and maintaining connections with academic, community and industry partners Organization Management
Financial management of the organization. Collaborate with our accountant to ensure we are spending within our means. Manage and expand sponsor relations Work with our grant writers to create a plan for ongoing funding of the org and its projects. Future Planning
Ensuring the financial sustainability of the organization Working with our programming director to develop plans for growing DMG programming Work with the board to ensure DMG activities are in line with our for the org. Added bonus
