AATIP (Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program) was a secret Pentagon program that ran from 2007 to 2012, focused on investigating UFOs and potential national security implications of unexplained aerial phenomena. The program was funded with $22 million in "black money" from the Defense Department's budget, allocated at the request of then-Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and was based out of the Defense Intelligence Agency(DIA). While officially terminated in 2012, some of its functions reportedly continued under different programs. The program investigated various incidents of unexplained aerial phenomena, collected witness accounts from military personnel, and studied potential breakthrough technologies. The existence of AATIP wasn't publicly known until December 2017, when the New York Times published a story about it. This revelation, along with the release of Navy fighter jet videos showing unusual aerial phenomena, helped spark renewed public and congressional interest in UFOs (now often referred to as UAP - Unidentified Aerial Phenomena). A key part of AATIP's work involved studying exotic technologies and physics concepts, including areas like wormholes, anti-gravity, invisibility cloaking, and warp drives. The program also investigated potential biological effects of close encounters with these phenomena on human observers.
