Purpose Statement

The purpose of this document is to explore a small subset of the numerous unique differentiating advantages that our partners access when Rooted Software joins hands to support their mission. While we believe each item discussed has a direct ROI for our partners, we have chosen only to express (via equations) those that can be clearly and simply derived. These expressions should help by providing a suggestion on how to think about the financial impact of working with Rooted Software. The equations are not, however, to be considered exact or binding. Upon request comprehensive ROI documentation can be provided. The ROI on this document are separated into two categories:

Types of ROI Explained

Positive-Value ROI: This ROI can be evaluated by representing the real positive value/worth that our partners experience when Rooted Software supports their mission. These items feel like “what you get for what you pay.”
Preventative ROI: This ROI can be evaluated by representing the real negative value/worth our partners will not expect to pay when Rooted Software supports their mission. These items feel like an insurance policy. The positive value in this ROI is the amount not paid for damages that our partners are substantially less likely to experience.

Description: Our flat-rate pricing model provides a simple and reliable Managed IT rate that is budget-projection-friendly. No matter how complex our partners’ needs become as they scale and no matter how heavily they use our services they know the exact IT-spend impact.
Value: Rooted estimates that the average IT labor spent on a ticket is 2.5 hours. Considering a month where only 5 extra tickets are logged, this model provides the below ROI.

Rooted Software’s Commitment to Reduce Ticket Count & Ticket Turn-Time

Rooted Software believes we’re doing our job when our partners think as little about IT as possible. Two ways we achieve this are by reducing ticket count and reducing the time it takes to resolve each ticket. A few of the many approaches taken to reduce these factors are outlined below.
Flat Rate Pricing Revisited
Description: Rooted Software also chose flat-rate pricing to reinforce the notion that we have the best interest of our partners in mind. The industry standard IT Managed Service Provider (MSP) approach is to charge an hourly rate which often translates into the MSP making choices that lead to a larger ticket count. Rooted Software’s flat-rate pricing model evidences our core value of fidelity and incentivizes us to take measures to reduce ticket count for our partners.
Investing in Internal Expertise
Description: The greater the expertise held by our Service Desk Technicians the more robust the solutions chosen for ticket resolution and the quicker those solutions are arrived at. Rooted approaches investing in internal expertise through various means including tech cross-training and tech certifications.
Value: One way to visualize the monetary benefit of reduced ticket count and turn-time is to produce a general efficiency metric by total company salary. In the modern workplace, some loss of efficiency due to technical challenges must be considered as part of the overhead of operations. Any reduction on this overhead is considered positive ROI. Value: The financial ramifications of system-wide failure are too complex to comprehensively capture in a simple expression. For instance, it would be necessary to evaluate such factors as the monetary value of lost data, damage to reputation, etc. For more information, we’d recommend reading . One simple way to represent a small piece of the potentially enormous cost of system-wide failure is to capture the salary time lost during a system-wide failure.
